Maverick Cooking

MAVERICK COOKING Season 1 takes place in New Mexico and is based on the best selling cookbook, The Maverick Cookbook: Iconic Recipes & Tales from New Mexico, by Lynn Cline, published by Leaf Storm Press.

MAVERICK COOKING starts each episode with a docu-series style reenactment of an historic or current character and the food they most enjoyed.

From an ancient Pueblo grandmother grinding corn on her mitote to Billy The Kid grabbing a bowl of his favorite stew while on the run, we will meet Georgia O’Keefe and Dennis Hopper where they lived and where they cooked, all in the Land of Enchantment.

Then we visit a famous restaurant with a guest star who talks us through an iconic recipe being made by a renowned chef.

We end each episode digging in and enjoying the foods that stay with us through lifetimes, passed down and improved by every new cook.

The Helen Movie

Helen and Dinah exploring the Ganges 1958

Helen Schreider is an artist and a world traveler. With her husband Frank, Helen accomplished 8 expeditions, 7 for National Geographic, from 1954- 1970.

The Schreiders in 1956 were the first people to navigate the length of the Americas in an amphibious jeep on their own steam (see book and film tour 20,000 Miles South). They were also the first to travel the length of the Amazon from the source to the sea, mapping the entire river in a boat they build themselves called The Amazon Queen (1969).

Their adventures are being made into a docuseries and a feature film. Helen was (finally) awarded her Explorers Club membership at the age of 89 in 2015, watch here.
